This is definitely a page turner as Mary first provides a culturally rich narrative picture of early 1900's Holland traditions surviving hundreds of years of neighboring invasions, the transitions the Dutch were forced to accommodate with German occupation, and how the everyday families survived and endured the bleakest of human history.This is a must read.
